Project Archivist

Primary assignment would be to process recently acquired collections, creation of detailed inventories, transfer of materials to archival boxes, and implementation of preservation protocols.  Work assignments may vary depending upon library and archival project needs. Work under the supervision of Library Manager and may oversee the work of college assistants for specific projects.

The Project Archivist is responsible for the arrangement and description of personal papers and records of organizations in Centro Archives holdings. Production Designer

Centro is seeking a production designer to work directly with our Art Director in the creation of Social media assets and print materials. The selected candidate will work with templates created by CENTRO’s Art Director and modify them as needed following our brand guidelines.

Decolonization Study Group Research Assistant
Deadline to Apply: March 18, 2022

The Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College (CENTRO) is offering research Fellowships for Spring 2022 (with possible renewal for 2 years) as part of the Mellon funded Bridging the Divide program. We are looking for researchers in the following two areas:

  • Historical Researcher – will be tasked with compiling primary and secondary sources about US imperial expansion, annexation processes, and decolonial movements within the United States and beyond

Selected researchers will work with the Centro team to develop a research agenda around the above topics. Researchers will be responsible for attending weekly zoom meetings with Centro’s Research team, working independently on their research topic (remote work is possible) and producing annotated bibliographies and digital resources related to their area of research.

Internship Opportunities

The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (CENTRO) internships are unpaid positions at our nationally recognized research center, but we suggest students consider the following:

1.            If you receive a work-study grant, you may select CENTRO as your site.
2.            If you are a participant in the CUNY EDGE program, select CENTRO as your Fellowship placement
3.            If you are not eligible for compensation from Hunter College, you may want to ask your department if it’s possible to receive credit for this experience. We would assist you in completing the required applications.
