Library and Archives

Centro is devoted to promote Puerto Rican art by providing exhibition space for established as well as emerging artists. Centro, already a world-class repository of materials documenting Puerto Rican history is also becoming an important art space reflecting the cultural vibrancy of our community.

Over the years, the Centro Library and Archives mounts exhibitions featuring a single artist's work as part of its public outreach efforts and regular program of exhibitions. At other times, we exhibit a variety of materials drawn from the archives. Ideally, a new exhibit appears each academic semester.  These have included a wide variety of materials such as displays of archival holdings and art works on paper from Centro's collection and visiting exhibitions.

Centro’s exhibition are an important vehicle for adding content to our archival art collection, especially for filling gaps on themes and artists representative of new directions among Puerto Rican artists and young artists establishing themselves in the broad artistic community.

Those interested in submitting a proposal for an exhibit sponsored by Centro or if you have any ideas you would like to share regarding exhibits please contact us at 212-396-7874.
