Planning a Research or Group Visit

Preparing for a research visit

Please use the resources in our Conducting Research section to assist you in identifying material you may want to look at and provide the archivist with the collection title and box number(s) for access to these materials during your visit.

Class or Group Visits

We welcome groups and classes to visit to our reading room and learn about our resources and services. Visits can be arranged by calling to our Reference Services desk at 212-396-7874.

Reading Room Rules and Amenities

To ensure the best possible experience for all researchers and for the safety and preservation of our library and archival collections, we ask all visitors to observe the rules and procedures.

Photocopying Archival Material

Photocopies of archival documents are available at a cost of 25 cents per page.

Photography or Digitization of Archival Material

At the moment, there is no personal scanning or image taking allowed of primary source material. There are exceptions to this rule that can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Digitization of material can be done for professional or publication use.
