About Centro Education

Centro’s education program focuses on the development of pedagogies (distance learning, contextual learning, group and project-based learning) and classroom support products (curriculum guides, readings, multi-media materials, DVD’s/videos & study guides, professional conferences and training, posters, crafts) that foster teaching and learning about stateside Puerto Ricans.

Currently, Centro education programs focus on the development of curriculum and educational materials— such as videos, posters, teaching guides, etc.—that could be used for undergraduate courses, for middle and high schools, or the general public. We understand that these tools help teachers and students to become involved in Puerto Rican studies, and our web-based open course ware, video conferences and other pedagogical resources provide the necessary supports for classroom success. Through this approach, Centro is also implementing a community education program to increase the use of archival collections and other library resources while supporting the teaching and learning of Puerto Rican Studies.
