We invite you to participate in the Social Entrepreneurship and Reconstruction II Conference: Developing Professional and Organizational Competencies, to be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Universidad Interamericana, Recinto Metropolitano, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Workshops on social entrepreneurship for economic recovery will be held on Saturday, March 23, at the Asociación de Industriales in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
This conference, which is co-sponsored by the Instituto de Desarrollo Empresarial y Acción Comunitaria (IDEAComun), the Asociación de Industriales, the Sociedad Bíblica de Puerto Rico, the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College and other organizations, looks to examine the role they play and the potential of civic organizations in the implementation of federal programs that support economic recovery in Puerto Rico.
Our main objective will be to assess the challenges and opportunities at this critical juncture of economic recovery and examine how community groups can foster social entrepreneurship and participate in federal programs to support economic development, job creation and the reduction of poverty.
On Friday, March 22, we will begin registration at 8:30 a.m. and we hope to conclude with a reception at 5:30 p.m. We expect the participation of representatives of non-profit organizations, faith-based communities, community development and other civic organizations; credit unions and other community development financial institutions; the private sector, state and local government, and academics, among others.
As in the last conference, we will have training workshops the next day, Saturday, March 23, at the Asociación de Industriales de Puerto Rico, at the Centro Internacional de Mercadeo in Guaynabo.
